About PubFold

PubFold is a free viewer and converter for Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files that runs in your browser: your file is never uploaded. Its guides explain, with sources, what the end of Publisher means for your files.

How the tool works

The reader is libmspub, the open-source code LibreOffice uses to open .pub files, compiled to run inside your browser, with our own fixes. Your file stays on your device: opening and converting it sends no request with the file, its name or its text, and once the page has loaded it works offline. You can check this in your browser’s developer tools.

The modified reader is published under the Mozilla Public License 2.0: source changes and build script. The other software the site uses is listed in the third-party notices.

How the guides are written

Dates and claims about Microsoft and other products come from the vendor’s own pages, linked where they are used, with the date we last checked them. Each page shows when it was last checked.

Found a mistake, or a .pub file the tool can’t open? Write to hello@pubfold.com. Please don’t attach private files.

Cost

PubFold is free to use. It shows no ads and has no advertising trackers.
